LOCAL STORIES
BRAUNTON FAMILY IN SRI LANKA
We use your Pink Shop web site frequently, and often visit Croyde and Polzeath for our surfing times. We were in Hikkaduwa when the tsamuni hit -I was swimming, daughter Eve surfing, other daughter and son sleeping, wife having breakfast - through some miracle we all survived, as did the others from the hotel. There was also a family from Braunton staying at the hotel, who are now actively fund raising for the Hikkaduwa region (including trying to get the local authority to 'adopt' the Hikkaduwa area for a long term assistance plan) - Phil, Jan and daughter Natalie (sorry, don't know their surname!) This is a great surfing beach with two challenging breaks -the locals hired out a few clapped boards, but now even those have gone. Have a look at www.sunbeachsurf.com as it is an interesting story and may give further impetus to your fund raising The Sri Lankans are wonderful people, some love surfing, and they deserve all the help they can get. Hope this proves of interest to you Regards Murray, Clare, Jamie, Evie, Rosie Johnstone
