The British surfing community has come together as never before to provide relief to victims of the Asian tsunami disaster.
Tsunami Surf Relief UK brings together the British Surfing Association, British Professional Surfing Association, Christian Surfers (who staged the Bali contest shown on the www.tsunamisurfrelief.co.uk website), Carve magazine and Newquay's surf business community to raise awareness of how surfers can help those affected in the areas they or their friends have visited.

A new surfing movie, 'Fistral Sessions' was released on 16 January 2005. Produced by Geoff Tydeman and sponsored by A1 Surf Ltd., the film is a portrayal of free surfing at Britain's most famous surfing location, Fistral Beach in Cornwall. Dramatic rare footage of the huge Cribbar reef being ridden by Chris Bertish is featured, recently featured in the national press.
Proceeds
from sales of the DVD will be donated to the DEC Tsunami
Earthquake Appeal. This is recognition of the close connections
between the worldwide surfing community and the many surfing locations
in the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia and the other
countries that have been so badly affected.
Newquay surfer, Geoff Tydeman, is no newcomer to the world of surf films, having been involved in the medium for over 25 years. Geoff is not accepting any royalties from this film and A1 Surf are sponsoring the film, which makes it possible to donate a full £10 from the sale of each DVD directly to the DEC Tsunami Earthquake Appeal. Donations will be made at the end of every month, and a running total of donations to date will be shown on the A1Surf Home Page. We feel that our target of £10,000 is a realistic one.
